EXHIBITION HALL was
a flurry of activity all weekend. Many came to play Bingo, try their
hand at quilting or Make & Take. Many just strolled through to view the
various exhibits on display. The Sarnia Lambton Hook Crafter’s Guild,
the Triple “C” Carvers demonstrated some very unique and
interesting work. Donna Schultz worked on some Sweedish Weaving
and Carol Searson on her knitting machine.
We had a particularly
delightful display titled “Made with Love by Grandma”. It
consisted of a collection of articles from member’s homes, dating back
many generations, expertly assembled under the capable guidance of
Sharyl Turner and Olga Woods.
We had the pleasure of
exhibiting outstanding art work of grade three students from Lambton
Kent schools who submitted entries in a contest promoted by our Club.
The theme was our show’s theme ‘Then and Now’. Winners received a very
lucrative award presented by our president, Mark Clemens’ family
in memory of their deceased father John Clemens.
Our very own members
modeled clothes from GOLDCOAST FASHIONS OF PETROLIA on Saturday
and Sunday to the delight of many.
Quilting was highlighted
this year. Expert quilter, Florence Elliott and her daughter,
Sharon Butt shared their family heirlooms at a “Trunk Show”
presentation on Friday and Saturday. They also provided guidance to the
amateurs who sat and stitched on a baby quilt set up for this purpose
all weekend.
On Sunday, Darcy Gray of
Gray’s Flowers of Petrolia, demonstrated the art of floral arranging
to a very captive and interested audience.
As you can see, there were
a wide array and variety of activities for young and old, male and
female
