Our 2005 show was again full of activities. The weather was not the most favourable with rain on Friday and the threat of rain on Saturday. The cloud covered skies held our crowds down but the spirits of our participants could not be damped by this weather one bit! Spectators enjoyed the many displays put on by our members such as the veneer mill, grain threshing, sawmill, rock crusher and more. The large displays were non-stop, keeping our tradition alive as the most active show going. People movers were again a large hit with spectators, helping everyone to get from one activity to the next. The outside working models put on a full active display with the Bluewater Model Club displaying their wares in the Model Building. With such great cooks on site the Forest Bakery and the bean pot sold out again! The ladies program drew large crowds to their display, delighting everyone’s view with old pictures and early day cameras. Gord Richardson of Watford supplied the cameras for this display.
The
antique tractor pull drew so many enthusiastic participants that the
tractors were pulling the club’s sled well into the night! The new feature on Saturday night of mini-garden tractor races held spectators breathless. There has been a large request to have them return for another performance next year. Many enjoyed the Pick’n and Fiddling and the annual Saturday night Corn Roast. Sunday’s church service was well attended and was followed by a full day of activities. Sunday’s great weather allowed for the perfect day to recreate a live museum of working displays. All the hard work by our members made our show a huge success. I would personally like to thank each and every one of our members for their support! We couldn’t have done it without all of you! I look forward with great anticipation to our show in 2006. Kind regards, Harley Searson.
